Hello guys,

This is a special post of a unique car, a special car. What is this special ? Because is the one to one car. Let’s see what means every part of the Ferrari 599 GTZ Nibbio Zagato Manual and why is the car unique.

The story

The 599 is named for its total engine displacement 5.999 cc.

The base model is Ferrari GTB. To obtain a GTZ you take a GTB and give it to Zagato and they give you back a Ferrari 599 GTZ. What makes the car unique, one to one, is that from all 9 cars GTZ is the only Manual.

Nibbio is the name of the horse that inspired the Cavallino the rampart horse in the Ferrari logo.

Who is Zagato ?

Zagato is an independent coachbuilding company and total design centre located northwest of Milan.

Ugo Zagato (born in Gavello, near Rovigo, on June 25, 1890) was an italian automobile designer who began his coachbuilding career in 1919. It is famous for its lightweight design.

The double bubble look is kinda a signature of Zagato and has a logical reason for it. In the old days the leaders wear helmets and they needed extra headroom for the helmets.

When you chose a 599 Zagato don’t be surprised if you don’t see any ferrari badges on the car. Along with the “new” car you receive a small black box with all the badges because the new ones are from Zagato.

History

The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano (internal code F141) is an Italian grand tourer produced by Ferrari. It was the brand’s front engined, two-seat flagship, replacing the 575M Maranello in 2006 as a 2007 model, and was replaced for the 2013 model year by the F12berlinetta.

Styled by Pininfarina under the direction of Ferrari’s Ken Okuyama, the 599 GTB debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in February 2006. The bodywork features optimized aerodynamics with distinct sail panels flanking the rear window, directing and maximizing air flow to a linear rear nolder.

The Ferrari P540 Superfast Aperta is a one-off convertible sports car based on the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano.

Designed by Pininfarina and built in Maranello, this car was designed to comply with international safety and homologation requirements. Using finite element analysis and carbon fibre, the car’s chassis was stiffened for the conversion to a convertible body style. As it is based on the 599 GTB F1, many of the specifications of the P540 are similar to its donor car. Total time of development was 14 months.

Evo magazine and Top Gear Magazine named the 599 GTB as the Car of the Year for 2006.
