BMW introduced the new X3 M and X4 M
The pre-series versions were unveiled at the DTM race. Both versions have a 3.0 liter turbo engine under the hood.
Some of you may noticed that as the times goes by the engines delivers more power. Unfortunately for them, when it became effective, the higher net electric motor appeared.
The Bavarian car maker presented the prototypes of the new X3 M and X4 M on the occasion of the Nurburgring DTM race. Both will be propelled by a 3.0-liter engine that develops over 400 horsepower.
The German Touring Championship has reached the weekend that has just passed to Nurburgring, a good opportunity for BMW to present to the world the whole new X3 M and X4 M. Those present could admire the prototypes covered by the specific camouflage, but not even could hide the changes proposed by the Bavarian SUVs.
From aesthetic point of view, we have bigger air intakes, aggressive spoilers, four-outlet exhaust system and, of course, several new aerodynamic elements. It is also worth mentioning the oversized rims that let you see the performance brakes with blue calipers, specific to the performance models M.
The Munich builder was quite reserved in terms of technical details but said the two performance SUVs would be offered alongside the M xDrive integral traction system that debuted with the new M5 but also with a new M5 six-cylinder in-line 3.0-liter turbocharger.
Exact power remains unknown, but we know from older information that the aggregate would grow about 460 horsepower. For enviable maneuverability and maximum adhesion, BMW engineers have also installed an active rear differential M and a sports suspension.
The launch date remains unknown, but there are chances that the Bavarian performance SUV will stop giving way to the mystery in October at the Paris Motor Show.
Frank van Meel, president of the BMW M division, has just said that “With the performance of the M, X3 M and X4 M models will set new milestones in the segments in which they will activate.”
