Bentley launched the new Continental GT Convertible. It’s 170 pounds heavier than the coupe.
The retractable ceiling is made of textile.
The British car maker has released the first information and images with the new Continental GT Convertible one year after launching the Coupe. The British Convertible is somewhat more rigid and lighter than the model it replaces.
Bentley introduced the new generation of the Continental GT in 2017 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The exterior design is inspired by the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept and, in short, does not differ greatly from the coupe version. The retractable textile ceiling can be ordered in seven versions and can be operated at speeds of 50 km / h. In addition, lifting or lowering is done in 19 seconds.
In the standard, the new Bentley Continental GT Cabrio comes with 21-inch wheels and no less than 17 exterior colors, including the new Beluga, Onyx and Portofino. Included in the list of optional equipment are 22-inch wheels.
In terms of weight, the convertible version is 170 kilograms heavier than the coupe, its own mass reaching 2.414 kilograms. But the propeller is the size of the gauge.
Under the hood, the British luxury model hides a 6.0-liter W12 engine that produces 635 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque. The eight-speed and double-clutch automatic transmission ensures that the speedometer needle reaches 100 km / h in 3.8 seconds and stops at 333 km / h.
Passengers will find inside an infotainment system with a 12.3-inch display and an audio system with 10 speakers and 650 watts. Optionally, two other audio systems are available, one signed by Bang & Olufson with 16 enclosures and one Naim with 18 speakers and a total power of 2,200 watts.
The Bentley Continental GT Convertible comes with a wealth of assistive technology and assistance systems in the form of packages. The City Package includes systems such as pedestrian warning, traffic signs or emergency braking, and the Touring package comes with an adaptive automatic pilot with traffic jam assist, treadmill, head-up display or night vision.
Bentley Continental cost more than $200,000.
